![]() REFLEXOLOGYWhat is reflexology?Reflexology so-named was developed as a complementary therapy in the early part of the twentieth century though it probably has its roots much further back. Reflexology is based on the premises that congestion or tension in a any part of the foot indicates an imbalance or problem in a corresponding part of the body and that reduction of such congestion or tension by massage, pressure and manipulation can be effective in addressing the underlying problem. What conditions can be treated by reflexology?Reflexology has been found effective for a wide range of complaints including sleep problems, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders, anxiety and stress-related conditions. What is a reflexology treatment like? The Initial Consultation will involve taking a detailed case history and during the Initial Consultation a Treatment Plan will be suggested and the likely timescale and cost indicated. For the treatment you will be asked to sit in a treatment chair or lie on a treatment couch having removed shoes and all lower leg coverings. You will be made warm and comfortable. The reflexologist will then proceed to use his or her hands to apply pressure to all parts of the feet - the exact technique varies between practitioners. |
