![]() REGRESSION THERAPYWhat is Regression Therapy?Regression Therapy is a specific application of Hypnotherapy . Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness similar to daydreaming during which beneficial suggestions can be given directly to the unconscious mind. N.B. No-one can be hypnotised against their will and even when hypnotised a person is completely in control and can accept or reject any suggestion made. Thus therapeutic hypnosis, including regression therapy, is a state of purposeful co-operation. In Regression Therapy clients are enabled to access buried experiences in this or a previous life. By safely exposing and releasing these buried experiences resolution of current difficulties is obtained. Beliefs and behaviours can be modified during the therapy as 'lessons' are learned and understandings and connections are made. What Conditions can be treated by Regression Therapy? One of the key benefits of Regression Therapy is that by gaining understanding of the roots in past experience of problems experienced in the present the client can reach a state of acceptance and closure, enabling progression beyond the problem to occur. This alone can be a vitally important benefit in removing a source of stress and anxiety. In particular Regression Therapy can help overcome anger, fears, guilt blocks and phobias - for example, a phobia of heights may be connected to a past experience of falling from a perceived great height, which could be only a matter of inches or feet if a baby or child ! It is also helpful for a permanent cessation of cravings and for stress, anxieties and depression. Safely guided, to access and re-experience is all that is needed to bring about change. As emotional and spiritual issues are revealed and addressed the client may also experience an easing of related physical symptoms. What is a Regression Therapy Session like?At the initial consultation, a detailed history will be taken so that the therapy can be tailored to the individual's particular concerns and therapeutic goals. A full explanation of what Regression Therapy is will be given and an initial plan suggested. A clearer idea of the number of sessions required may be apparent after the first regression session. The norm is between two and six sessions. Using deep relaxation and guided visualisation techniques the client will then be led into an hypnotic trance state so that the process of discovery and healing can commence. The sessions take place in a safe, gentle and nurturing atmosphere and usually are around one hour in length. As regards further sessions, progress and future direction is always evaluated in partnership between the practitioner and the client.
