What is a Shiatsu treatment like? The Initial Consultation will involve taking a detailed case history and during the Initial Consultation a Treatment Plan will be suggested and the likely timescale and cost indicated. Receiving Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience. The treatment takes place with the client lying, fully clothed, on a traditional padded shiatsu mat on the floor ( although if you are unable to lie on the floor it is possible to receive shiatsu whilst sitting in a chair). The practitioner will employ a combination of stretching, rocking and pressure techniques to achieve the therapeutic objectives over a course of treatment. Guidelines for ClientsPlease bring or wear relatively loose, warm, comfortable clothing, preferably cotton (e.g. tracksuit top and bottoms, cotton socks). If you forget, the Healing Centre can supply suitable clothing. Avoid eating heavily or drinking alcohol in the 2 hours prior to treatment and do not drink alcohol for at least 2 hours after the treatment. After the treatment drink plenty of water and if possible avoid strenuous or stressful activities for the rest of the day.
